Target retrieval systems

A target retrieval system, or target carrier, does the core work on a shooting lane. It moves the target to the set distance, brings it back to the shooter and follows the scenario. RangeTech makes two models that share one rail and control standard. Basic is an electric, mains-powered target retrieval system with a cable drive. Nucleus is a wireless, battery-powered carrier with armoured shielding. Both work on lanes from 5 m, typically up to 500 m, longer on request, because the carrier design sets no limit on lane length. You run both from one tablet in RangeTech Master.

Basic or Nucleus?

Two target retrieval systems, one standard

Basic is the economical choice, simple to install and maintain. Nucleus is a battery-powered, armoured carrier for combat conditions. You can mix both in one facility, even on one lane, on the same rails and in the same application.

01 / Everyday workhorse

RangeTech Basic

A reliable, economical target retrieval system with a cable drive. It does the everyday work on the lane, with simple installation and little maintenance.

  • Communication Rail or wired
  • Drive Electric, synthetic cable, up to 3.5 m/s
  • Power Mains, 230 V
  • Control RangeTech Master, from a tablet

02 / Combat conditions

RangeTech Nucleus

An armoured, wireless carrier, live-fire tested. It runs on a battery and charges automatically in the docking station.

  • Communication Wireless, autonomous
  • Speed Up to 7 m/s, 1 m positioning
  • Power Battery in the carrier, docking station
  • Modules Turner, RGB, camera, hit sensor

Distances

25, 50 or 100 metre lanes

Both systems work on lanes from 5 m, typically up to 500 m, and on longer lanes when the facility requires it. Positioning every 1 m lets you shoot at 5, 10, 15 and 25 m on one lane without moving anything by hand.

25 m

Pistol and police ranges

The most common distance for pistol, police and commercial ranges. A Basic carrier on a 25 m lane covers individual, group and scenario training.

50 m

Carbines and long guns

On 50 m lanes, Basic usually handles the standard positions. Add Nucleus where you need a target turner or a target camera.

100 m and beyond

Rifle lanes and outdoor ranges

Nucleus needs no cable or wiring, so its design sets no limit on lane length. We typically supply lanes up to 500 m, longer on request. At up to 7 m/s the target spends less time travelling.

Common standard

What both systems share

01

Panel rail system

Rails arrive as replaceable panels. You swap a damaged section on site without welding or grinding.

02

Anti-ricochet holder

Targets go on and come off quickly, and the ricochet risk drops. Nucleus also offers a magnetic holder.

03

Self-diagnostics

Each device checks its own condition and reports to the system. We provide factory service and spare parts for every model.

From design to the first shooting

Installing a target retrieval system

  1. 01

    Lane design

We agree the lane length, number of firing points, rail spacing and the location of the control room. At this stage we tell you where Basic is enough and where you need Nucleus.

  2. 02

    Panel rails

We assemble the rails from ready-made panels, with no welding or grinding on site. Years later, a damaged section comes out the same way.

  3. 03

    Power and control

Basic takes 230 V from the rail, Nucleus gets a docking station at the end of the lane. Everything connects to RangeTech Master.

  4. 04

    Commissioning and service

We test the lane, calibrate 1 m positioning and train the operators. After that you get periodic inspections, genuine spare parts and remote diagnostics.

Questions and answers

Common questions about target retrieval systems and target carriers

What is the difference between a target carrier and a target retrieval system?

There is none. Target retrieval system, target carrier and target retriever all name the same device: a trolley on a rail that moves the target along the firing lane. We use target retrieval system for the complete solution and carrier for the trolley on the rail.

Basic or Nucleus: which one should I choose?

Choose Basic where economy and reliability come first: sport, commercial and training ranges. Choose Nucleus for long lanes, for targets that turn or react to hits, and where the carrier has to take live fire. You can combine both in one facility.

What lane lengths do RangeTech target retrieval systems support?

From 5 m upwards. We typically supply lanes up to 500 m, but the carrier design sets no limit on lane length, and we supply longer lanes on request. Positioning works in 1 m steps, so a single 25 m lane also gives you 5, 10 and 15 m.

Does a target retrieval system work on an outdoor range?

Yes. Aluminium rails do not corrode and the devices work from -20 to +60 °C, so the same carrier runs indoors and outdoors.

How is a target retrieval system controlled?

From any phone, tablet or computer in RangeTech Master, with nothing to install. One application handles a single lane, a group of lanes or the whole facility, including scenarios with targets, lighting and sound.

Can an existing range be fitted with new target retrieval systems without a rebuild?

Yes. This is a typical modernisation job: we upgrade the equipment in phases and the range stays open.

What is the warranty and how does service work?

The warranty runs up to 7 years. Factory service covers inspections, repairs, genuine spare parts and remote diagnostics.
